By accessing thereceipts.ca ("the Site"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Copyright

Government documents, parliamentary records, and other primary sources cited or linked in our articles remain the intellectual property of their respective authors or institutions. Our analysis, commentary, and presentation of those sources is original work protected by Canadian copyright law.

2. What You May Do

You may read, share links to, and quote brief excerpts of our articles for the purposes of commentary, criticism, news reporting, or academic research — consistent with fair dealing under the Copyright Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-42). When quoting, please attribute to "The Receipts (thereceipts.ca)" and link to the original article.

You may share our articles on social media, in newsletters, or in private communications using the article URL. We encourage this.

3. What You May Not Do

Without prior written permission from The Receipts, you may not:

Reproduce, republish, or redistribute full articles or substantial portions of articles on any website, platform, newsletter, or publication — whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes.

4. AI and Machine Learning

No content on this Site may be used for AI training, model fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or any form of automated content synthesis without explicit written permission. This prohibition applies to all parties, including but not limited to operators of large language models, search engine AI features, and automated summarization services.

This policy is also expressed in our robots.txt file via the Content-Signals protocol (ai-train=no) and through explicit User-Agent blocks. Violation of robots.txt directives in conjunction with these Terms constitutes unauthorized access.

5. Enforcement

We monitor for unauthorized reproduction and scraping. If we identify a violation, we will request removal. If the violation is not remedied within a reasonable period, we reserve the right to pursue legal remedies available under Canadian law, including under the Copyright Act and applicable provincial legislation.

We are not litigious by nature. We are a small, independent publication. But we take reproduction of our work seriously — particularly bulk scraping and unauthorized AI training — because our analysis is our only product.

6. Linking Policy

You may link to any page on this Site without permission. Deep links to specific sections (using anchor tags) are welcome and encouraged. We do not require notification for standard hyperlinks.

7. Corrections and Accuracy

We are committed to accuracy. Every article includes a corrections status notice and a reader prompt for submitting additional evidence. If you believe any factual claim on this Site is incorrect, please contact us at tips@thereceipts.ca. Corrections will be noted on the relevant article.
